If the marriage party is from Scotland, then they’ll know the dances because almost all of the dances are taught to Scots when they’re at college. But if there are plenty of folk at the marriage who aren’t Scottish, then the band could need to teach the steps and call the dances ( remind folk what to do in the dance ). The very good news is that the majority of the dances are so easy to learn and can consequently get picked up extremely quickly. Again, the standard Ceilidh band will play for approximately 4 hours at a marriage and take a thirty-minute break.
