Developing a new product with an electronic manufacturing service

Designing electronic equipment requires a specialized expertise. When the company that I work for developed a new concept the question of manufacturing became an issue. We have in-house personnel that cater to our existing operations but they will not be suitable for the new development. Either we hire fresh talent or consider using the services of an electronic manufacturing service. There are cost considerations but also quality issues. Hiring new staff can be a risk when you are venturing into a new unchartered area. With the cost of contracting to China or India so low, it may be just a case of doing some due diligence on quality control and outsourcing the operation offshore.
