Effective cold calling for your small business

Why does almost everyone hate cold calls? Because we’re bombarded with advertising messages almost constantly! We have become quite adept at ignoring most of them, while only a select few pique our interest. The most annoying ones are those we’re forced to pay attention to, almost against our will. In order to overcome this huge natural resistance, you must first find out how to make your calls as unobtrusive as possible.

The best way to generate leads on your website is to ask your visitors to give you their email address – get their permission to contact them. Then, when you have that permission, send them information and tips that they actually want. The same thing goes for phone calls. Before you pick up the phone, get your prospect’s permission, give them something they want and consequently generate a warm lead then a sale.

Rather than using the traditional approach of cold calling in small business marketing and shove a ‘sell’ in your potential client’s face, get their attention, ask permission, find out what they want and give it to them. It’s much more effective.
