Protecting Yourself With A Trademark Search
My brother has a plan for a product he has worked on for many years. He will be launching a small business and running it on his weekends at first while he gets everything set up. His product has a list of potential names to replace the temporary name but he explained to me that he first will need to retain someone to do a trademark search for him so that he is sure he can trademark the name he chooses. If the search is not done and the correct paperwork not handled, then he can leave himself open to future lawsuits.
