When insurance is not worth the paper it is written on!
According to the article “How much is your insurance really worth?” in many cases, insurance policies are not worth the paper they are printed on! Imagine taking a Gap Year like James Pinnington and finding out that the medical help and the financial backing you thought you had prepared for was not going to happen, all because the insurance you’d bought was not appropriate? Or in the case of James Pinnington, hi s insurance proved worthless, all because he didn’t possess a full UK motorcycle licence (but he did possess a full UK drivers licence). How exasperating for his family that they would somehow have to find twenty five thousand pounds in order to fly him home from a remote Vietnamese village with two broken legs for medical treatment. All because the company James had bought the cover from had a respected reputation for healthcare and was a family brand. One thing is clear from this awful nightmare of this boy out seeking experience of the world. We need to look further than the brand of a product when we purchase our travel insurance and read the small print instead.
