Woman dies when hit by drunk driver she tried to keep from speeding in her neighborhood

Another drunk driver reportedly takes a life.  This time the young female victim had gone out to the street in an attempt to get the drunk driver, who had repeatedly sped through her neighborhood, to slow down.  According to a witness, the drunk driver, a 39 year old male, at first did not even realize he had hit the young woman, asking if he had hit a trash can.  When he finally realized that he had hit and killed the young woman, he reportedly left the scene of the accident on foot, leaving his truck.  The police were later able to locate and apprehend him.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the young victim.  In any case involving a drunk driving accident the family of the victim should consult with an experienced, skilled attorney who can make sure that the accident is properly investigated, that the family’s rights are protected, and that all sources of potential recovery are pursued.
