What is Sciatica?
13 February 2010
I had no idea what was happening to me when, several months ago, I got a sudden twinge in my lower back that almost felt like a pinch that traveled down my right leg like lightning. When it happened several more times in one day, I did a bit of research on the Internet, and asked my doctor, “what is sciatica?” It turns out that sciatica can be caused by irritation to the sciatic nerve, which is the largest nerve of the body. Herniated disks, infections, and injury can all cause sciatica. Thank goodness mine was a mild case and when it flares up, I take an anti-inflammatory medication which helps with the discomfort.
