Accent Reduction Classes-Three Ways to Practice at Home

02 November 2009

You will learn many accent reduction and pronunciation techniques in your accent reduction classes. However, you may be wondering how you can practice at home or once your class is over. Here is a list of three ways to practice your American English pronunciation outside of class.

1. Make a checklist of the pronunciation features you need to work on. Each day choose one of these features and work on it for 20-30 minutes.

2. Find an American English speaker to help you practice. Most people would love to help you if you ask them. Be sure to tell them what pronunciation feature you are working on so that they can give you specific feedback.

3. Rehearse. Before going into a situation where you know you will speak English, predict how the conversation might proceed. You should be able to anticipate many of the words and phrases you will need to say. Rehearse the conversation aloud to yourself. Use your checklist to keep you focused.

Going for a Walk

02 November 2009

Today I went for a walk by my exmormon friend’s house, but they weren’t home. My daughter enjoyed yelling at all the dogs in the neighborhood but her favorite cat wasn’t on the usual street we see him on. He’s a really friendly cat. Later on I called my exmormon friend and left a message then she called me back and invited me to the park. She needed to vent about a difficult situation she’s experiencing with a woman who won’t leave her alone. I know the feeling because I have the same problem with that person. We wish she would get therapy.

Visiting a Nursing Home

18 October 2009

My exmormon dad used to take us to the nursing home to visit my grandpa and my great grandma quite often. It was always a bit of an uncomfortable experience, but we managed. But one lady really freaked my sister out when she leaned over towards her and started speaking gibberish. Then she suddenly added, “Don’t tell anyone.” My friend who came with us said, “Oh don’t worry, I won’t.” My exmormon dad thought the whole situation was hysterical. Then the lady said to my sister, “I didn’t know you did that.” She said, “Neither did I.” She didn’t talk to me.

My Sister Needs My Help

14 October 2009

I have a sister that moved to Florida with my Dad.  Dad has long since passed away, and now my sister is up in years, unable to work, and cannot seem to get her financial affairs in order.  Unable to help her by phone, I am leaving on Friday to make a trip to Florida.  I need to make several Florida court records searches to try to find out what are her assets, her liabilities, how she is set for future medical care etc. Bless her heart, she was so good with Dad and I hate to see her in the same mess herself now.

babyshowers are a right of passage in pregnancy. They can be a great amount of fun. The problem is that so many people have started to believe that a baby shower needs to cost a pretty penny. Finding Somebody Old With Reverse Phone Detective

01 October 2009

Whenever you want to find somebody that you have lost touch with it can be incredibly frustrating process. But you don’t have to go to the great expense of hiring a private detective because there is a little software tool that is called the reverse phone detective which can help you with your search. Just fire this thing up and then type in the phone number to the search box and it will be your little mechanical private investigator going out and searching all the records it has access to which are the biggest databases on the Internet today and the most updated ones. You pull back all that information you need at any owners of that phone number throughout its history and bring back their current information.

some things never change

26 September 2009

Some things will never get better and some things will never be more efficient.  However some things make a great commercial strides such as godaddy hosting which is changed quite a bit over time.  While in the past hosting was merely a place to you had upload files to and you had to do all the work yourself is now quite different. What is different these days is the fact that they can provide you with one click installation of anything you want anything you need. In other words you can install things such as banner ad server or a form discussion group or anything you may want to put on your site.

My Career Started With An Online Paralegal Program

23 September 2009

Ever since the economy started declining, the local colleges have filled up and it has been next to impossible to get into any of the desirable programs. I knew that I wanted to have a career somewhere within the legal field, but I wasn’t sure what I could do if I couldn’t even get into college. I noticed that there was an online paralegal program, and I took a closer look to see if it was something worthwhile. I decided to enroll, and before I knew it I was graduating and being offered jobs left and right! Now I have a job that I love, and the pay is great too.

Stepping up From Office Work to a Nursing job I Love

16 September 2009

I am not criticizing office work, but it was definitely not for me.  For years I could not understand how my co-workers got so excited about the latest report or staff meeting.  All I wanted to do was help people.  Eventually I figured out that an LPN Degree was a smart way to make the leap from office to a helping field like nursing.  It took me two years of hard work but I graduated and was offered a job at a hospital.  It was so much fun that I could not believe I was being paid to do it.  In time I went on to get my RN degree and have worked as a registered nurse for twelve years.

Police Officer Careers Offer Great Job Security

14 September 2009

After I was laid off from a private security firm, I knew that I had what it took to succeed in the law enforcement field. I talked to some people that I used to work with, and they said that police officer careers were among the best for job security. I decided to start taking some of the necessary coursework, and when a position opened up at the local sheriff’s office, I was hired! I went through the academy, and learned the basics for what I would be doing on the job. I was paired with a veteran officer who taught me everything he knew. I have found my ideal job.

Finger Food That Will Impress Your Guests

10 September 2009

Making appetizers and canapes for a party is something that I do a lot. Even if it is just a few family members gathered around for cocktails. Everyone anticipates the munchie platter. Some of them I make the day before and some are prepared a few hours before they are served. Deli sliced roast beef or ham can be spread homemade cottage cheese with any combination of flavored spreadable cheeses. I just spread the mixture on the meat, roll the meat up, secure it with a toothpick and chill it. Then I cut 1/2-inch slices and I have tasty pinwheels. Dress them up with pimiento olives or carrot curls and parsley.
