Who gets chilblains?
There are numerous disorders that can have an effect on the blood circulation in reaction to cold weather. One of the most prevalent of them are usually chilblains. They most typically occur on the toes, but can happen in the fingers and also have been seen to occur on the nostril as well as the ears. The reason is a too fast change from cold temperatures to warm temps. Usually the little arteries need time to be able to open up in reaction to warming. In a chilblain they cannot open up quickly enough in order to get nutrition to the tissues as well as move aside waste material. This activates an inflamation reaction that eventually evolves into the chilblain.
