Why would someone become a Jew?
Some people who are born into non-Jewish faiths decide that they want to become a Jew. There are many reasons for this. Sometimes, the person wishing to convert to Judaism finds the religion more interesting or more spiritually compelling than whichever one they were originally raised in. Sometimes the person in question is moved by the historical story of the Jewish people and their suffering and eventual return to the land of Israel, and is inspired by this to take up the religion for themselves. And lastly, some convert to Judaism for the purposes of marriage – if someone is engaged to a Jew but is not Jewish themselves, they may convert before the marriage in order to feel closer to their spouse and his or her family. These are some of the reasons why someone might become a jew.
