Give them a chewing substitute

An important part of Labrador puppy training is to teach your dogs what they may and may not chew on. All dogs love to chew — and labradors are certainly no exception. The best thing to do is to train your dog to understand that only special toys should be chewed on. Once you know that your dog likes to chew on a certain favorite toy, you should use that toy as a chewing substitute when they begin to chew on an inappropriate object, such as furniture or your favorite pair of slippers. When you see them chewing on these objects go and get their favorite chew toy, and gently offer it to them as a substitute. Over time, your dog will make the connection and will stop chewing those inappropriate objects.
