The confusing dog food label.

It can be very confusing for the dog owner to try to understand the dog food label.  One of the pieces of information that we see when looking at the dog food label is called guaranteed analysis.  Guaranteed analysis is listed in this order:  Crude protein (Minimum percentage), Crude fat (Minimum percentage), Crude fiber (Maximum percentage) and Moisture (Maximum percentage).  This is information that is required for a label to have, according to AAFCO.  State’s law requires a more complete analysis, therefore most manufacturers provide a more complete analysis on the label. So, the next time that you go shopping for dog food, take a detailed look at the label and see if you can make better sense of it.
