The subject of medical school rankings is very much important where hiring decisions of hospitals and other medical institutions are concerned. For example, one might reasonably expect that med school graduates from schools that scored high on a  Medical School Rankings might get some kind of preferential treatment when it comes to employment opportunities, even if the student did not at all place all that high in the board. While it is true that this can be a fallacy of logic when it comes to selection, it is sadly the way things go when it comes to employment, even in the medical field.
